Aiken documentary traces town horse heritage

ETV films in Aiken for a statewide program Aiken Much Ado about Horses airing in December on SCETV. Producer Steve Folks notes focus on every horse event from trials to Triple Crown and the 20th century golden era. Steel horses debut at Art After Hours show

The Jackson Gallery in downtown Aiken hosts the opening of All Over the Place II The Evolution of Process with 17 steel horses built around fossil bones. Bill Jackson moved to Aiken in 1996 and runs The Jackson Gallery on Park Avenue. The event is part of Art After Hours extending 6 to 9 PM every third Thursday through May 20, featuring other local artists and venues.

Police Blotter Reports Multiple Burglaries Vandalism

Police blotter items show thefts and damages across several streets. A stereo worth 100 dollars vanished from a York Street vehicle. the car suffered 300 plus dollars in damage. Marlboro Street window damage and a York Street silverware theft totaling 1500 dollars were reported. Sunridge Road burglary left a vacuum missing after moving out. a Highway 4 vandalism caused over 3000 dollars in damage. Curtis Drive burglary netted 17000 dollars in valuables. A tow dolly worth 700 dollars was stolen from Observatory Avenue.

Senior Men's Club of Aiken highlights fellowship and leaders

The Senior Men's Club of Aiken formed in 1962 now has about 70 members and meets monthly with speakers from Dr. Jonathan Leader to Pete Frommer. Wreck on Hitchcock Park Way prompts drug and alcohol probe

Investigators probe a Tuesday collision on Hitchcock Park Way after a Vaucluse driver and Bath passenger in a westbound Ford crossed into the opposite lane and struck an eastbound fuel tanker. Responders found beer cans, drug paraphernalia and prescription medicine, and both occupants were hospitalized with incapacitating injuries. Charges pending.

Gloverville Couple Charged With Drug Possession Sale

Aiken County sheriff’s deputies arrested Bobby W. Glover and his partner in Gloverville for illegal possession and sale of prescription drugs in Horse Creek Valley. Glover, 59, of 238 Hillvale Street, faces three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
