Funeral planned for Hunley crew draws tens of thousands

Charleston authorities expect up to 30,000 mourners for the April 17 funeral procession for the H L Hunley crew. Organizers say 10,000 will join Civil War reenactors and the event will include horse drawn caissons and 50 gun salutes as faces of the eight crewmen are revealed. The Hunley, the first submarine to sink an enemy ship in 1864, was raised in 2000 and conservation methods including electrolysis and cold plasma are being explored.
