From Pip-Squeak to Powerlifting Star Ted Tomlin Makes His Rise
Ted Tomlin, former Allendale Academy quarterback, now 21 and 191 pounds, transformed by weight training into a top powerlifter. He benched 465 pounds in both the Southeastern USA Championships at USC Aiken and the Mid Carolina championships in Forest City, NC, aiming to improve his national ranking. He attributes the change to coach Ron Blackmon and intense discipline, lifts six days a week, and a diet of chicken and tuna. Tomlin recalls being told he was too small for major college football and says powerlifting lets him compete for life. He has squatted 500 pounds and bench pressed 465 with a 525 deadlift, eyeing Masters and Elite classifications.
