The Pacers are the Peach Belt Conference’s lone team in the final 2012-13 regular season poll, ranking 20th. USC Aiken (22-7) hosts the 2013 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional at the Convocation Center, the first regional for USCA. West Liberty remains No. 1.
Kevin Kisner won the Web.com Tour Chile Classic in Santiago with a 4-under 68 after a 11-under 61 lead the previous day. He finished with 24 birdies and one eagle against five bogeys, crediting his improved putting for the breakthrough. Kisner, a 2005 Georgia national champ, previously claimed the 2010 Mylan Classic and later faced mixed results on the PGA Tour.
USC Aiken senior Matt Atkins claimed medalist honors at the 16th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate held on the par-70 Palmetto course. Atkins finished 4-under 206 after a final round 70, two strokes ahead of Virginia’s Mac McLaughlin, as Augusta State won the team title.
USCA (15-5, 6-3 Peach Belt) hosts Limestone (12-9) tonight and Anderson (5-19) Thursday at Roberto Hernandez Stadium in non-conference games before PBC play. Coach Kenny Thomas stresses regional relevance and NCAA tournament implications as Taylor Peed starts vs Limestone and Jake Padgett debuts vs Anderson.
