Lost Trust ball in Justice Depts court
The Operation Lost Trust ball is in the Justice Department to decide within 30 days whether to appeal a judge's ruling. Former U S Attorney Bart Daniel faces accusations of lying to a federal court and withholding evidence in the 1990 FBI Statehouse sting. Judge Falcon Hawkins threw out indictments of five ex state lawmakers and the decision could go to the 4th Circuit. If the doj does not press charges it will send findings to the agency policing private attorneys. Chief Justice Ernest Finney may appoint an independent investigator.

Forest Fire Rages in Georgetown County
Firefighters in Georgetown County plan to renew containment efforts on a six day forest fire that has scorched over 2,500 acres in the Carver's Bay area near State Highway 261. Ken Cabe of the Forestry Commission said the blaze crossed a canal and road, burning timber as crews use crop-dusters and water cannons. Humidity provided slight relief as crews aimed to corral the flames within a network of roads and build a fire wall along a dirt road with eleven tractors.
