A tanker truck carrying liquid argon collided with another vehicle on the U S Highway 17 bypass in Myrtle Beach shortly after 8 p m Thursday killing a passenger or driver in the other vehicle. The victim’s identity remains withheld pending next of kin notification.
KINGSTREE It was likely drug smugglers aboard a stolen 1968 Piper Aztec owned by B N Hileman of Charlotte who crashed at Kingstree airport. FAA officials said both victims burned beyond recognition and autopsies were underway with two names being worked on.
In Piedmont two teens died after a northbound car crossed the median on Interstate 85 and hit a tractor-trailer. Victims were William K. Robertson 18 of Greensboro North Carolina and Daniel P. Vallee 16 of Lake Park Florida. Driver Carl R. Tew 52 of Dothan Alabama was treated and released.
The decomposed body of Ora Simpson was located about a mile from her last sighting in a shallow gully near Barksdale. Coroner Zack E. Seymour said cause of death is undetermined and no foul play is suspected. An autopsy will be performed at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood after a month-long search.
