Windsor farmer shoots and kills man near Windsor
Lawrence Cap Redd an 18 year old white farmer in Windsor Aiken County shot Oscar Gunter a Negro after an argument when Gunter advanced with a knife. Redd claimed self defense as deputies found the body and arrested him at his brother’s home. He remained in the county jail returning to the scene.

Automobile Fatal Crash Claims J C Gunter Near Aiken
J C Bud Gunter 48 of Joyce Branch died after an auto wreck Sunday night on Richland Avenue by Aiken County Hospital. He and J H Courtney were returning from Clearwater when the car hit a curb and a parked vehicle, rolled over and pinned Gunter. Courtney was unhurt. Funeral services were held at Clearwater Baptist Church with burial in the courthouse yard. Gunter had served as a county Democratic executive committeeman.

The Aiken Kennel Club staged its annual field trials at Topside on Home Run farm nine miles from Aiken. Entries came from Georgia and South Carolina with 26 dogs entered. Winners included Mack in the Shooting Dog Stakes and Cotton Stockings in the Derby, with strong judging and wind affecting bird work. Prominent visitors and a later horse show were noted for March 24 25 in Hitchcock Woods to benefit Aiken Hospital.

W J Wise 30 of Ellenton formerly of Aiken died instantly Saturday afternoon when a truck ran over him during construction work on highway 28 near Ellenton. He leaves a wife Beulah Moody Wise and a son, his parents J J Wise and wife, four sisters, a brother, and several relatives. Services were held at Ellenton Baptist Church with a funeral at May Cemetery. Pallbearers named from Aiken and Ellenton communities.
