Graniteville bladesmith stars on Forged in Fire premier

Graniteville bladesmith Joey Lynn will appear on the History Channel show Forged in Fire in the premier episode of its fifth season at 9 pm Tuesday. He aims for the $10,000 prize and describes the experience as great, hoping to compete again. Lynn, a retired corrections officer, forged his first blade in 2016 from railroad spike during a class in Pigeon Forge Tennessee, later building a forge in his carport using a barbecue grill and a hairdryer for air. He advanced after a Skype interview and four days of taping at Brooklyn Fire Proof Stages, calling the trip his first plane ride and memorable for New York food and atmosphere. The show pits bladesmiths in a format akin to Chopped for chefs. The article notes the page cut and references material from CUT, page 10A.
