In a six-charge civil case, Charles White Jr. received 37,000 in actual damages and 66,000 in punitive damages after a six hour jury deliberation. Bruce H Salter the Bufflao Room owner was found innocent on five counts and plans to appeal punitive damages. The case stems from a Sept 5 1989 incident where six NAACP leaders were denied service at the North Augusta restaurant and sought 100,000 in actual damages and 100,000 in punitive damages each.
