Triple Crown Schedule Holds Four Local Events
AIKEN events outline a March series with four races and a hall of fame induction. The AIKEN TRIALS occur March 15 at 2 p.m. at the Aiken Training Track on Two Notch Road followed by Hall of Fame Induction March 16 at noon at Hopeland Gardens for Bowl Game and Smart Angle. The Horse Show in the Woods runs March 21 in Hitchcock Woods with AIKEN HUNT MEET on March 22 at 1 p.m. at the Steeplechase Track on Audubon Avenue.

Aiken Mile Track Put Up For Sale After Health Note
Mrs. John T. Persall of Augusta says the Aiken Mile Track is listed with realtors and hopes to sell within a year. She cites poor health but will stay through next year if needed and wants a buyer to keep Standardbred training. No asking price yet. Becker notes no price set. The track, built in 1936 by Dunbar Bostwick, changed hands in 1972 when Summa Corporation bought it for $400,000.
