Hot Debate Promised On Lending Fees Bill
The South Carolina House debates a bill allowing savings and loan firms to charge a two percent lending fee when construction inspections are required. Critics stall the bill with delaying motions as supporters cite inspection costs and reduced interest yields. On loans without inspections the fee would be one percent. The measure has drawn strong opposition and was previously approved by the Senate.
