Triple Crown Trials Kick Off Aiken Event

The 61st Aiken Trials run Saturday at the Aiken Training Track on Two Notch Road. Gates open 10:30 a.m. Post time 2 p.m. General admission is 8 in advance or 10 at the gate with parking 5 in advance or 10 at the gate. Tickets from local outlets and the ORA at Savannah River Site. Area health workers receive smallpox vaccination in Aiken

Health officials vaccinate 107 South Carolina workers against smallpox amid terrorism concerns. Nick Shaurette, a disease specialist in the Lower Savannah Public Health District, received the needle Monday at the Aiken County Health Department. The vaccination was described as not painful by Shaurette.
