Government ends Swedish civil servant strike and blackouts
Sweden’s Socialist government ordered thousands of civil servants back to work and announced the end of retaliatory blackouts that left about 50,000 government employees off the job. Premier Palme said the back-to-work law buys time for mediators to negotiate wage increases that began January 28. Lockouts in nonstriking offices will end at midnight Thursday.
