Washington AP reports the White House dismissed rumors of a Nixon Kosygin meeting in Vienna for the SALT talks resumption in April. Deputy press secretary Gerald L. Warren said the President has no foreign travel on his schedule.
Lawrence F. O'Brien, newly named unpaid Democratic national chairman, will keep running his public relations and management consulting firm in New York. He remains president of Lawrence F. O'Brien Associates, Inc., and the firm is being expanded.
Campaign sponsors announce a bronze Churchill statue will stand in Parliament Square opposite the House of Commons. Lady Spencer-Churchill has changed her stance and contributed toward the 72 000 dollar goal, sharing the square with Lincoln and other British statesmen.
Vice President Spiro Agnew told the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association that the current welfare program fosters idleness breaks up families and robs dignity. He urged support for the Nixon administration workfare plan as offering recipients a chance rather than charity.
Bank of America reopens a branch in Isla Vista with a prefabricated 2,400 square foot structure in a parking lot near UC Santa Barbara. The unit replaces a building burned two weeks earlier by rioters and signals the bank will continue operations in the student community until a new building is ready later this year.
In Raleigh North Carolina naturalists at North Carolina State University halted ROTC training near Yates Pond a 100 acre woodland tract. Dr James W Hardin a botany and forestry professor said the ecological studies and wildlife counts would be disrupted by the obstacle course and guerrilla tactics. The ROTC unit retreated after the ruling.

A Delta flight from Miami to Detroit made an unscheduled stop over Augusta Georgia when a baby was born en route. The infant, No 36, was delivered to Mrs Janet Legio 22 of Livonia Michigan and both mother and baby were hospitalized in Augusta and said to be in good health. The father Edward Legio 24 was driving to Detroit with the other child aboard the plane.
Twiggy, real name Lesley Hornby, known for the 1960s mod look and earning about 2500 a week, says she is retiring from modeling at age 20 to study acting. She notes she could not perform a big sexy role and wants something nice.
Aiken County officials and conservationists debated forming a planning and zoning commission to study building sites and issue permits based on conservation findings. The program spotlights one work from each of the past five centuries by Frescobaldi Bach Mozart Strauss and Shostakovich while the stage band performs pop tunes Under James A Kitchings and William T Slaughter direction the event lasts one hour and aims to attract local and perhaps out of town listeners.
About 100 residents from the northeast Aiken area attended a City Council meeting to protest the sanitary landfill. George A. Anderson of the Community Action Council urged better living conditions and warned against expansion, while a 500-signature petition called for removal and no expansion. Residents cited odors, vermin, dust, and lowered property values. John E. Suich urged a buffer zone to protect citizens.
