Man charged with assault in 78-year-old victim case
Aiken man William Donovan Currie, 54, was charged Wednesday with assault and attempted murder in the February attack on a 78-year-old woman at her Old Camp Long Road home. The victim said Currie choked her and threatened to kill her before she escaped. Currie was later arrested and held in the Aiken County Detention Center. Currie previously pleaded guilty to reckless homicide in 2012 related to a fatal crash.
