In Atlanta on Sunday both Peach Belt Conference championship events saw the men and women’s teams suffer defeats. Kurt Busch led a dominant performance with a backward victory lap signaling his win.

A burned body was found at 826 Kedron Church Road after a fire that destroyed two joined single wide mobile homes. Coroner Tim Carlton said the body was burned beyond recognition and autopsy, including DNA, is planned to identify the victim. The white female remains unidentified pending kin notification and next of kin contact.
Four local mothers share the impact of histiocytosis on their children and families. Sadie Morton was diagnosed at age two in 2003 and has been in remission since October 2004 after a year of chemo and extensive care. A March 28 fundraiser supports research into a government-underfunded, rare illness.
The 67th Aiken Trials take place Saturday with a polo pony race and polo demonstration by the Aiken Polo Club. Beneficiaries include the Aiken Land Conservancy the Aiken Jaycees and the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum.
