The annual Aiken Horse Show at Hitchcock Woods on March 22 and 23 draws record winter attendance. A lengthy entry list foresees more competitors, with events from polo ponies to thoroughbreds. Proceeds benefit the Aiken Hospital Equipment and Upkeep Fund.
Col D W Gaston Sr, longtime Aiken figure and State Highway Commission member, announces intention to run for sheriff in the upcoming primaries. Sheriff Nellie Robinson is expected to seek reelection, with several others rumored as contenders as races heat up in Aiken County.
