English Auschwitz survivor Leon Greenman dies at 97
Leon Greenman the only Englishman sent to Auschwitz died at age 97. Born in London in 1910 he was with his Dutch wife and son when occupied and sent to Auschwitz in 1943 where his wife Esther and son Barney perished. Freed from Buchenwald in 1945 he spent his life educating the public and authored An Englishman in Auschwitz. He received the Order of the British Empire in 1988 for fighting prejudice.

Greenville County to pay 80000 settle prison staph case
Greenville County will pay 80000 to settle a lawsuit by 25 inmates who contracted drug resistant staph at a county jail. Inmates alleged substandard medical care and poor sanitation during the outbreak nearly two years ago. County administrator Joe Kernell confirmed the settlement but said distribution details are unclear. The inmates’ lawyer Chip Howard declined to reveal terms pending final paperwork.
