Sheriff honored for recovery efforts after fatal train wreck in Aiken County
Sheriff Hunt received an award for leading emergency response after a Norfolk Southern train collision killed nine people. Rep. Bill Clyburn praised his leadership as a line item of 240000 was proposed to aid emergency services. GVW Fire Dept and Avondale Mills were also honored for rescue actions and plant reconstruction. Hunt noted potential purchase of seven to eight patrol cars with the new funding, as 37 cars already serve a 140-vehicle fleet.
