Energy Boom Seen By AEC Forecast
The Atomic Energy Commission predicts nuclear power will rise from 4 percent to 60 percent of U S electricity by 2100. The AEC report Nuclear Power 1973 2000 says energy use will more than double, with electrical energy making up about half. Nuclear capacity could reach 1.2 billion kilowatts by century's end, fast breeder reactors may start commercially in 1986 and supply over half of capacity added after 1995.
