Hospitality tax funds City improvements
The Aiken City Council kept the 1 percent hospitality tax after a 4-3 vote on Feb. 22. Through February the tax has collected 110,972, well above the 100,000 monthly budget, with 891,338 total funds raised and plans for numerous capital projects including the Whiskey Road corridor. The business vitality manager’s salary is funded by the Economic Investment Fund, not the hospitality tax.
