Sylvester Morris 52 of Batesbury died in a crash near Chinquapin Church Road after a moped rider was struck by a pickup and run over by a tractor trailer. He wore a helmet and was en route to a poultry farm. drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors. The accident occurred Friday morning and is under investigation by the S C Highway Patrol with the coroner providing the death details.
One hundred women in Aiken Relay for Life issued a gender battle challenge to local men to raise 100 dollars each for the American Cancer Society event. If the men lose, they will walk a lap wearing skirts and lipstick, though heels are avoided for safety. Dr. Holly Woltz says the women aim to raise over ten thousand and involve more businesswomen in the effort.
