Billboard industry money drives campaign influence in South Carolina
South Carolina legislators approved a billboard bill after the Outdoor Advertising Association spent 339000 dollars to influence lawmakers. Gov. Mark Sanford vetoed it but a veto override followed as 21 of the 170 members received donations over 1000 dollars. The group says spending complied with campaign laws and politics centered on property rights. Senators Kent Williams Tommy Moore Harvey Peeler were among donors.
