Police blotter reports vandalism and arrests across town
A car was vandalized on Laurens Street. A Leesville man was arrested Sunday after a traffic stop revealed eight warrants. An Aiken man was arrested after taking $16 in food from Kroger. A car was broken into at the Dexter Arms Apartments Sunday. Another car break‑in occurred on Henry Street Saturday.

Aiken County jury awards Robert and Debra Cole 6 million in a five day trial against Dr. Wayne Frei over a gall bladder operation in 1997. Mrs Cole receives 5 million for pain and loss of lifetime earnings. Mr Cole 1 million for loss of consortium.

Harmonious Festival of Music and Art at Aiken Center for the Arts marked the ACS first commercially released compact disc capturing its performance of Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle from Piccolo Spoleto 1999. Hooters Tour Comes to North Augusta With Randy Waters Classic
The NGA Hooters Tour heads to North Augusta for the Randy Waters Memorial Classic at the River Golf Club. Practice rounds start today at 7:30 a.m. through Wednesday. first round is Thursday March 9 with final rounds and awards Sunday March 12. About 150 of 168 slots filled, 60 after weekend cuts. $100,000 purse with $20,000 to the winner. Volunteers sought. 40 to 50 signed up so far.

Aiken Time Capsule Planned For April 30 Opening in 2100
A time capsule will be placed April 30 at the Newberry Festival site in Aiken to be opened in 2100. The 3 by 4 by 3 inch container will hold small items reflecting life in 1999 2000, with an obelisk marking the spot and an inscription for descendants. Donations and letters may be submitted to the City Manager's Office by March 28.
