In a 5-A Conference final rematch Ridge Spring Monetta defeated Cardinal Newman 74 to 67 to clinch a state tournament berth after overturning a prior loss. Albert Frazier led RSM with 26 points and Doug Calvert scored 32 for Newman despite double figure efforts from Lott and Abner. The victory avenged a finals setback and sent the Trojans toward the state tourney field.
