Court will hear stadium case in May developments
The South Carolina Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on Project Jackson in May with dates set for May 5, 6, 7, 19, or 20. The case involves a 25 acre development for a hotel, stores, and a baseball stadium for the Augusta GreenJackets, proposed between The River Club and Hammond's Ferry in North Augusta. The suit, filed by River Club resident Steve Donohue to stop the project, led the city to seek original jurisdiction with the Supreme Court after initial rulings in favor of the city. Mayor Lark Jones and City Administrator Todd Glover expressed cautious optimism for a timely, favorable resolution and continued economic development.
