First Unambiguous Spin Measurement for a Supermassive Black Hole
An international team using NuStar and XMM-Newton measured a supermassive black hole's spin in a nearby galaxy at near light speed, about 670 million mph, the first clear determination of its rotation. The result helps explain growth of behemoth black holes at galactic centers.
