Washington AP reports Albert Sabin, 86, medical pioneer behind the oral polio vaccine, died early today at Georgetown University Medical Center from congestive heart failure. His daughter Amy Horne confirmed the death from his Washington home. The oral vaccine, developed with prior work by Jonas Salk, helped end the polio epidemic in the United States.
