Charlie the Gator Returns to Wilmington for Summer

Charlie the alligator known as Charlie the sister has returned to the area around the battleship North Carolina. The nine foot reptile has appeared each summer since 1961 except for 1968, prompting spectators to feed him snacks and chicken. The battleship remains moored as a tourist draw.

Spy boat captured after two hour attack near Seoul

South Korean forces report capturing a six ton North Korean spy boat in Kunja Bay after a two hour ground air and sea operation. Five or six North Koreans aboard reportedly jumped overboard. The boat was towed to Inchon and a search for the crew continues with no South Korean casualties.

Gen Mark Clark Admitted To Naval Hospital

Gen Mark W. Clark 74 a World War II Italian invasion leader and Korean War UN commander was admitted to the U S Naval Hospital for a temporary change in his heartbeat. A spokesman said his condition was good and discharge was expected soon. Clark later led The Citadel College in Charleston before stepping down last year. The illness forced two weekend engagements to be canceled.
