First named Atlantic storm Alex heads toward Gulf
Tropical Storm Alex weakened after landfall in Belize then moved into the Gulf of Mexico and could regain strength. It may reach the Mexican coast later this week, possibly as a hurricane, while oil containment efforts in the Gulf continue. The storm caused heavy rains and evacuations in Belize and Guatemala, with two deaths reported in Guatemala.
