Obama grants generals leeway on Afghan pullout plan
President Obama told the nation he will remove 10,000 U.S. troops from Afghanistan by year end with up to 23,000 more leaving by 2012. Generals Petraeus and Allen will decide July drawdown specifics while meeting the 10,000 end of year target and preserving combat power through the 2011 fighting season.
