Suspect in I 126 shooting surrenders in Columbia
Charles Robert Pace of Asheville North Carolina turned himself in to Columbia police on Monday night. He faces assault with intent to kill and unlawful possession of a weapon in a Thursday highway shooting heading into downtown Columbia. A motorist said a pickup truck pulled alongside and gunfire erupted, wounding the driver with cuts from shattered glass and a ricochet breaking rear windows of another car.

Transfer Smooth Inmates Move To New Trenton Facility
About 350 inmates from the Aiken Youth Correction Center were moved by bus on Monday morning to the new Tren ton Correctional Institution. They wore state uniforms and exchanged money for credits in a cashless system to curb drugs and gambling. Warden George Hagan praised the smooth move and staff effort. The new 87 acre site, built at 15 million dollars with inmate labor, can house over 600 inmates.
