Northside Park phase one planned for Aiken with amphitheater
Aiken City Council meets to approve phase one of the Northside Park project a $52 million 118 acre multis phase site along Columbia Highway with an anticipated 15 to 20 year buildout and a summer 2017 completion for phase one. The plan includes an amphitheater walking trails an ADA playground a sheltered picnic area and restrooms. The council also weighs a settlement with Hopeland Farms over Woodland Pond detention pond maintenance and flood prevention and votes on property and code actions including Alfred Street sale building codes updates deed dedication water easements and lift station work.

ARRL Field Day Draws North Augusta Radio Clubs
The American Radio Relay League kicked off a 24 hour Field Day with North Augusta Belvedere Radio Club and others exchanging Morse code digital teletype and voice signals. Participants operate under simulated emergency conditions using generators at the Aiken County Government Center to contact as many stations as possible for points while teaching the public how amateur radio works.
