North Augusta man gets 20 years in drug conspiracy case

Johnnie Finley 33 of North Augusta was sentenced in Columbia for conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of crack cocaine. The operation linked to Currytown and North Augusta involved over 8 kilograms of powder cocaine and 3 kilograms of crack cocaine from the late 1990s to mid 2008, with 24 people later serving over 250 years and more than 14 million dollars in drugs traced to the area.

Weekend heat to top 100 with scorcher highs and humid air

National Weather Service warns of temperatures near 96 with heat index up to 104 today and tomorrow. Rain chances rise to 40 percent with a muggy evening and a low around 75. Sunday brings a 11 am shower chance, partly cloudy skies, highs near 95 and heat index up to 103. A cooling trend begins Tuesday after a high in the low 90s. Local officials hope a soaking rain before the Fourth of July to dampen brush fire risk from fireworks.
