Korean War Memorial Honored On 50th Anniversary
South Carolina unveiled a Korean War monument in Columbia to honor veterans of the Forgotten War on the 50th anniversary of the conflict. Veterans like Joe Cote and Bill Lark described the era as neglected, noting donations came mainly from veterans and families, while many returnees faced indifference and trauma. The memorial features a marching soldier with a machine gun, a Korea map panel, and granite slabs recounting history.

Augusta tightens rules to curb video poker inflow
Augusta commissioners unanimously amended the arcade ordinance to outlaw establishments with 10 or more video poker machines, effective immediately. City Attorney Jim Wall said South Carolina operators are moving into Georgia due to a state law allowing skill-based amusement machines. The measure imposes similar distance rules to adult venues and targets concentration, not single machines.
