NRC to test simulated regulation at Savannah River Site

The NRC and DOE held a public meeting in Aiken to outline a pilot plan at the Receiving Basin for Offsite Fuel. The program runs July 20 to November 20, with final reporting, authorized by a 1997 memorandum. Inspections are for simulation and will not enforce compliance.

Gateway School aids learning disabled back to traditional classes

Gateway School in Aiken, established 1986 and housed with Second Baptist on Laurens Street, serves 11 students from Aiken, Jackson and Salley. Under administrator Nancy Elliott, staff Sylvia Harlow and Elaine Bombard provide an individualized self paced and continuously monitored education focusing on basics plus science social studies health art music and language skills using varied methods.
