Mets admit player drank on bus before fatal crash
Capital City Bombers outfielder Tim Bishop, age 20, died in a traffic accident after drinking on the team bus. Mets official Steve Phillips said no comment on discipline. The Bombers fired their manager and two coaches for not enforcing the drinking rule. An internal Mets investigation confirmed a blood alcohol content near 0.1 percent. Bishop died when his car blew a tire on Interstate 126 and was struck by two other cars.
