Officials confirmed a second mad cow disease case in a U S born animal. They stressed no public health threat and outlined ongoing monitoring and safety measures for the food supply.

A woman reported finding a suspected explosive device in a truck registered to Robert Heussy, a Williston man jailed at the Aiken County Detention Center. The device appeared to be a galvanised pipe with gray duct tape and string, as described by a sheriff’s office incident report.

Hopelands Gardens receives a ten thousand dollar grant from the End of Life Coalition funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to build an octagonal brick and slate labyrinth at least 40 feet in diameter near the Doll House behind the color garden. The project steering committee will present to the Aiken City Council at a June 27 work session.
