Clear skies and warm weather dominate many areas with 20 percent showers possible tonight and tomorrow. Three day outlook shows partly cloudy skies Thursday to Saturday with isolated afternoon thundershowers and highs near 90s across the Midlands coastal regions mountains and beaches.
The Aiken County School District audited Ridge Spring Monetta High Scho field Middle and Jackson Elementary and found some financial tracking gaps but overall favorable reports. The meeting at South Aiken High School begins at 7 p.m. with discussion of the 1985 86 budget and other items including diplomas for 1984 85 and plans for personnel, vocational, and facilities.
The Aiken County Council will review a resolution to extend the 1984-85 budget while awaiting a new 1985-86 budget. The meeting at 736 Richland Avenue will also complete the third reading of a new code of ordinances as budget issues dominate the agenda.
The council backed annexation with part of the property slated for multi family residential use. A council member urged private talks to bypass legal obstacles. Frampton Durban called the vote frustrating, warning costs and administration would rise if the city loses control.

Local agencies outline aid programs through the Council on Aging and Salvation Army as United Merchants plans to phase out its Bath yarn dye plant by June 5.
One girl was captured at the accident scene and taken to the Aiken County Detention Center. The remaining girls fled the car, triggering a large search in woods behind Smile Gas Station on U.S. 25 near I-20. Dogs and a helicopter failed to find a scent. search efforts continued through the night and resumed this morning.
Officials seized 116 marijuana plants valued at 116000 in a wooded North Augusta plot near the Savannah River after a two week tip by an informant. The Aiken County Metro Narcotics Squad and North Augusta Public Safety removed the plants between the old Georgia boat landing and Fifth Street bridge. No arrests reported. The marijuana will be destroyed today at the Aiken Community Hospital incinerator.
Thieves stole nearly 1000 dollars of jewelry from an Aiken residence between midnight Thursday and noon Friday. Stolen items include a 150 dollar wedding ring a 200 dollar diamond earrings a 240 dollar gold cross necklace a 160 dollar opal earrings set and a 50 dollar gold necklace after breaking a rear door window and plywood panel. A separate report notes a 700 dollar air conditioner stolen from the Old Girl Scout Cabin on Church Street Warrenville between 8 30 p m Thursday and 8 a m Sunday.
