The Aiken County Board released four finalists for district superintendent after a Tuesday executive session. King Laurence of Aiken County Public Schools. Dr Kevin O Gorman of Berkeley County. Dr Ahmed Sean Alford of Dorchester District Two. and Dr Mark Petersen of Greenwood School District were slated for interviews Saturday with a final decision expected at a special meeting Tuesday at 6 pm at the district office.
Education Matters hosts its second Are You Ready to be Grown conference for middle and high school students and parents at USC Aiken Business and Education Building on August 1. The full day event runs 8 a.m. to 3 30 p.m. and costs 10 dollars for registration including breakfast lunch and materials. More than 200 attended last year. capacity is 250 with 30 speakers guiding sessions. Donna Moore Wesley leads the program to connect education with future adult life.
