No bail for sex offender charged in girl's death
Jacksonville judge denies bail to Donald James Smith a registered sex offender charged with murder and kidnapping in the death of 8-year-old Cherish Perrywinkle. Smith befriended the girl and her mother at a dollar store then abducted them to a WalMart before fleeing with the child. Police found Cherish's body in woods near a church after a tip led to the van stopped on I 95.
