Rotating Hunley Takes Longer Than Expected
The HL Hunley submarine rotation near North Charleston is delayed as crews adjust the hull after a 30 degree turn. A laser monitoring system was readjusted on Thursday and the bow dipped, requiring releveling while workers continue the delicate righting begun Wednesday to reveal the hull for the first time in about 150 years.

South Carolina dropout rate falls for second year
The South Carolina Education Department reported a drop in high school dropouts for the 2009-10 year to nearly 6,300 students or under 3 percent of grades nine through twelve. The decline reflects 812 fewer dropouts than 2008 and 1,748 fewer than 2007 08, aided by a 2006 07 identification system clarifying transfers versus dropouts. Education Superintendent Mick Zais urged sustained focus through graduation to raise overall K 12 outcomes.
