In Aiken at Gladys Myrick’s Tailor Shop on Park Avenue she solves clothing fit issues from crooked hems to dropped sleeves.Ms Myrick shifts garments to size and fixes zippers while sharing her lively perspective and town stories.
Ms. Myrick recalls more than ten years of patience shaping her craft from S C Area Trade School in Denmark to studies in men’s alterations. She worked in an Augusta store before moving home and, in April 1980, opened her own Park Avenue shop.
Belvedere's Kirk School property will be leased to five years for recreation use and the tin roof building sold by sealed bids. District officials say the four acre site includes quality lumber and the district will remove the building if not taken by September 30.
