Aiken County Jury found Cleo J. Scott not guilty of embezzling public funds after a two day trial. The verdict elicited applause from supporters as testimony and more than 100 documents were reviewed. The case, indicted in May by the county grand jury, was prosecuted by the State.
President Ford is expected to urge Congress to restrict busing as a desegregation tool. The plan would limit how long busing lasts and narrow when courts can order busing, focusing on segregation caused by official government action rather than neighborhood patterns.
