Park charged with Kidnapping at former ATC instructor incident

Ronald Park 53 of North Augusta faces two counts of kidnapping and one count of assault after allegedly blocking classroom exits during a June 16 altercation at Aiken Technical College. Warrants for disturbance of school are pending. Park may surrender after administrative dismissal and investigation. An anxious student was treated and released.

Four of six charged in bull mutilation hearings begin

Four of six individuals charged in the October 2004 slaying and mutilation of a Jersey bull face a morning hearing at the Aiken County Judicial Center. Defendants include Brent Aiken also Derrick Turner and Jerry Bell with multiple counts of ill treatment of animals and burglary.

SREL gains limited funding to summer 2006

Wise deadline on death row appeal passes in SC

Convicted killer Hastings Wise did not submit documents by the Wednesday deadline to the South Carolina Supreme Court for appeal of his 2001 death sentence for the 1997 four-employee murders at the R E Phelan Co. plant in Aiken. Officials noted a postmark deadline of June 22 could still allow mailed filings.
