Trenton Ridge Peach Festival Draws Large Crowd
The First Annual Trenton Ridge Peach Festival in Trenton drew crowds of residents and visitors for a day of beauty contests, a parade, barbecued meals, peach packing demonstrations, air shows by the Viking Parachute Club, concerts, go karts, horse rides, a peach eating contest and square dances. Gayle Cook won Little Miss Peach Blossom and Fredna Timmerman Miss Peach, with runners up Ann Delaughter and Mary Hughes Nicholson. Two boys tied in the peach pits challenge, then both won trophies. Local elder Mrs. Sam Posey called it the busiest day in 50 years.
