Barnes Suspended as Aiken County Administrator

Aiken County Council voted unanimously to suspend W Scott Barnes from his post as chief administrator on paid leave, with Chairman Warner calling the move a dismissal. Barnes faces a state charge of unlawful use of a telephone and plans to appeal. he was released on a $5,000 recognizance bond and left the courthouse without comment. The council approved a $20.4 million budget for 1991-92 with 3 percent cuts and freezes.
