Martha Ann Burckhalter 80 widow of Henry Nelson Burckhalter died June 16 2008 at her residence. A native of Centenary she lived in Aiken most of her life and was an Aiken High School graduate. She worked as a receptionist for Dr Roundtree and as a bookkeeper, co founded the Aiken Wood Carvers Club, and was active as an artist in china painting and wood carving. Survivors include daughter Janet Burckhalter sisters Florence Pursley Risa Newsome Mary Alice Lockhart brothers Jerome Morris Jr Wilburn Morris Dr Bill Morris granddaughter Laurie Moore great grandchildren Christopher Michael Rebekah Sydney and sisters in law Eloise Burckhalter Elizabeth Walton Minnie McKenna. predeceased by husband Henry Nelson Burckhalter and daughter Diane Burckhalter McFarland. Funeral services will be held June 19 2008 at 11 am at Shellhouse Rivers Funeral Home with interment in Aiken Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends June 16 from 6 to 8 pm at the residence and June 19 from 10 to 11 am at the funeral home.
