The Aiken Council of Social Agencies and Community Service Leaders meets Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Aiken Tech School auditorium on the Aiken Augusta Highway. Guest speakers include Garrel Wike United Way executive director and H T Smoland an active volunteer.
SCEE&G activities criticized as Pride reveals a letter from the South Carolina Taxpayers Association to Attorney General Daniel McLeod. The letter accuses SCE&G of violating Section 24-70 by acting without Public Service Commission approval in property transactions. Tom Turnipseed condemns the company for seeking rate increases and noncompliance, calling for vigorous action.
Two Pinecrest Elementary School teachers Albert a Scott and Patsy Dickey were named Outstanding Elementary Teachers of America for 1973. Nominated by their principal for exceptional service and leadership in elementary education, their biographies will be featured in the awards volume. Dr. W Gilbert Beers praised the honorees as exceptional educators.
SRP forester Robert W. Squyres transfers from the Savannah River Plant to the Forest Supervisors Office in Hot Springs Arkansas to work on special land uses at the Ouachita National Forest. He is a Louisiana Tech graduate with prior service in Oregon Texas and Arkansas. Max H. Anderson will replace Squyres. he is an Arkansas native and LSU forestry graduate.
