Storms cause damage and outages in Aiken County

Aiken County emergency officials assess damage after a strong thunderstorm late Thursday night near Wagener and Camp Rawls Road. Widespread outages hit 555 customers of SC Electric & Gas and 1300 Aiken Electric customers. no injuries reported. Areas in Midland Valley expected to be checked Friday. NWS may issue an opinion next week.

York Street bridges open after renovation in Aiken

On Friday the southbound York Street bridge opened at 12 32 p m with the northbound bridge to follow in the afternoon. The project overseen by United Infrastructure for SCDOT cost about 3 8 million with potential additions and liquidated damages for delays.
